Special Items

Some pictures require special items as well as energy points in order to play them.  Usually there is a picture, introduced by the most recent update, which requires a temporary special item.  That picture will require the temporary special item until a future update changes the requirement.

Finding Special Items

Special items can be won by researching other pictures. They can also be rewarded for combining collections, be given out by certain desktop awards, and be given as bonuses for visiting friends.

The number of special items required for each play of a picture depends on the level of mastery that picture is on.

The Amulet of Santa and Sapphire Amulet artifacts are examples of talismans that reduce the number of special items required to play pictures. They decrease the amount required for each play by 20% for 24 hours.

The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards reward special items every 12 hours. These awards can be won or upgraded (to give out a larger quantity of special items) during the Halloween and Christmas events, respectively. When charged by a friend, each will give twice as many special items than if the award is not charged.

Regular special items (Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens) can be given as free gifts to your friends. They are not able to be added to your Wish List. You will see friends adding them to their game name. These items do not come out of your inventory when you gift them to your friends. You may send one free gift to each friend after 24 hours has passed since you last sent a free gift to that friend.

Timed Challenge Events include Everyday Gifts and a Gift Tree during the event period. Everyday Gifts can be opened at any time.  Many of the Gifts will reward the regular special items or the current update's special items. The Gift Tree will award some of the current update's special items every 24 hours. Everyday Gifts and the Gift Tree will go away when the event timer expires, but the picture will still require the temporary special items until a future update changes the requirement.

Using Special Items

A picture that requires these special items, whether Regular (permanently needed) or Event driven (temporarily needed), is indicated when the picture is chosen for Research. This is referred to as 'Demand'. The research box will display the image of the Special Item needed, the number of those items that you have available in your inventory and the number of the special item that is required for you to play the picture. If you have enough available to play, then the Demand will be highlighted in white. If you don't, then the highlight will be changed to red and the picture cannot be played until you have acquired additional special items.

Night Garden (Fireflies)

Night Garden: Requires Fireflies to play. Fireflies can be found in Palatial Office at Detective Level or higher. Fireflies may also be given by the Friendliness award when it is charged by a friend. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder awards have a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Fireflies in normal play (1 in 6 during some timed challenges). Fireflies are occasionally given as a bonus when visiting friends' desktops. Some collections award Fireflies.
Fireflies can be given as a free gift to a friend from level 25 onwards.

Mill (Ladybugs)

Mill: Requires Ladybugs to play. Ladybugs can be found in Ancient Library at Detective Level or higher. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder awards have a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Ladybugs in normal play (1 in 6 during some timed challenges). Ladybugs are occasionally given as a bonus when visiting friends' desktops. Some collections award ladybugs. Ladybugs can be given as a free gift to a friend from level 35 onwards.

Illusionist's Room and Sewing Shop (Carrots)

Illusionist's Room and Sewing Shop: Each require Carrots to play. Carrots can be found in Misty Shed, Night Garden, Mill, and Eastern Bazaar at Detective Level or higher. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder awards have a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Carrots in normal play (1 in 6 during some timed challenges). Carrots are occasionally given as a bonus when visiting friends' desktops. Some collections award

Tree of Dates and Wedding Boutique (Cupid's arrows)

Wedding Boutique in text mode

Tree of Dates, introduced during the Valentines Update, and Wedding Boutique require Cupid's arrows to play. For the duration of the Valentines Update (February 2014-May 2014) Cupid's arrows were awarded for every picture played at any level. With the introduction of the Tavern Update (May 2014), Cupid's arrows were kept on a special item requirement for playing Tree of Dates increasing the number of regular special item pictures to 4.

The Autumn Festival Update added the requirement of Cupid's arrows to play Wedding Boutique, which had been introduced during the previous update, Secret Ceremony Update.

Cupid's arrows can now only be won in these pictures: Venice and Throne Room.  During Timed Challenge Events, Cupid's arrows are rewarded by Special Gem Match, or Festive Gem Match, starting at Level 8 (2 red bars.) The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder have a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Cupid's arrows (1 in 6 during some timed challenges). Cupid's arrows are occasionally given as a bonus when visiting friends' desktops. Cupid's arrows can be given as a free gift to a friend from level 25 onwards. There are currently no collections in the game that give Cupid's arrows as rewards for combining.

Observation Deck (Tokens)

Observation Deck was introduced during the Travel Time Update and requires Tokens to play. For the duration of the Travel Time Timed Challenges (July 2015-August/September 2015, depending on device), Tokens were awarded for every picture played at any level. After the Time Challenges were completed (or timer expired), Tokens were restricted to just two pictures, Mayan Temple and Crashed Plane. With the introduction of the Social Events Update (September 2015), Tokens were kept on as a special item requirement for playing Observation Deck, increasing the number of regular special item pictures to 5. Tokens can now only be won in Mayan Temple or Crashed Plane (from Trainee level onwards). The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder have a 1 in 4 chance of awarding Tokens (1 in 6 during some timed challenges). Tokens can be given as a free gift to a friend from level 87 onwards. There are currently no collections in the game that give Tokens as rewards for combining (those collections introduced as part of the Travel Time Update that award Tokens have had their rewards changed to different game items.

Temporary Special Item Pictures

Often, new pictures are added as part of Updates that have special item requirements for the duration of the update, or longer. These special item requirements may be lifted during the next update, after which the pictures will only require energy points to play them like regular pictures.  Some updates introduce two new pictures; typically one of them is used for a timed challenge and requires special items, and the other is a new regular picture.

Witch's Hut (Pumpkin Lantern)

Witch's Hut: For the duration of the Halloween Update (October 2013 - December 2013) Pumpkin Lanterns were required to play the Witch's Hut. Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Halloween Update (except for Witch's Hut itself). The Sphere of Miracles had a 1 in 4 chance of awarding Pumpkin Lanterns for the duration of the Halloween Update. Pumpkin Lanterns were removed as a requirement to play Witch's Hut during the Christmas Update. Any Pumpkin Lanterns in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs and Carrots.

Christmas Eve (Christmas Bauble)

Christmas Eve: For the entire duration of the Christmas Update (December 2013 - February 2014) Christmas Baubles were required to play Christmas Eve. Christmas Baubles were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Christmas Update (except for Christmas Eve itself). The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Fortune had a 1 in 4 chance of awarding Christmas Baubles for the duration of the Christmas Update. Christmas Baubles were removed as a requirement to play Christmas Eve during the Valentines Update. Any Christmas Baubles in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs and Carrots.

Forest House (Pumpkin Lantern)

Forest House: For the entire duration of the Halloween 2014 update (October 2014 - December 2014) Pumpkin Lanterns were required to play the Forest House. While the Halloween 2014 Timed Challenges were active, Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded for every picture played at any level (except for Forest House itself). Once the Halloween 2014 Timed Challenges were completed or the Timer expired, Pumpkin Lanterns could only be won by completing games of Witch's Hut and Polar Station, until their eventual removal from the game.

The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder both had a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Pumpkin Lanterns for the duration of the update (including after the Timed Challenges finished until Christmas 2014 update was released). 5 new Collections added by the Halloween 2014 Update rewarded Pumpkin Lanterns when combined. Pumpkin Lanterns could not be gifted between Friends.

Pumpkin Lanterns were removed as a requirement to play Forest House during the Christmas 2014 update. Any Pumpkin Lanterns in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots and Cupid's arrows at the beginning of the Christmas 2014 update. The 5 Collections that rewarded Pumpkin Lanterns had their rewards changed to normal game items.

Winter Street (Christmas Ball)

Winter Street: For the entire duration of the Christmas 2014 update (December 2014 - April 2015), Christmas balls were required to play Winter Street. While the Christmas 2014 Timed Challenges were active, Christmas balls were awarded for every picture played at any level (except for Winter Street itself). Once the Christmas 2014 Timed Challenges were completed or the Timer expired, Christmas balls could only be won by completing games of Christmas Eve and Crashed Plane, until their eventual removal from the game.

The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder both had a 1 in 5 chance of awarding Christmas balls for the duration of the update (including after the Timed Challenges finished, until Spring 2015 Update was released). 5 new Collections added by the Christmas 2014 Update rewarded Christmas balls when combined. Christmas balls could not be gifted between Friends.

Christmas balls were removed as a requirement to play Winter Street during the Spring 2015 Update. Any Christmas balls in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots and Cupid's arrows at the beginning of the Spring 2015 update. The 5 Collections that rewarded Christmas balls had their rewards changed to normal game items.

Banquet Hall (Invitation)

Banquet Hall: For the duration of the Social Events Update, Invitations were required to play Banquet Hall. Invitations were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Social Events update's timed challenges, and restricted to Amusement Park and Japanese House after the timed challenges event ended. Invitations could also be won by banishing anomalies but could not be won for playing Puzzles. The Sphere of Miracles (Level 1 and 2) and Pyramid of Wonder (Level 1 and 2) desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Invitations for the duration of the update. Invitations were removed as a requirement to play Banquet Hall during the Halloween 2015 Update. Any Invitations in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Spooky Yard (Pumpkin Lantern)

Spooky Yard: For the duration of the Halloween 2015 Update, Pumpkin Lanterns were required to play the Spooky Yard. Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Halloween timed challenge event. Once a player completed all challenges in the Halloween Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Pumpkin lanterns were restricted so that they could only be won in Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Pumpkin Lanterns for the duration of the Halloween Update. Pumpkin lanterns were removed as a requirement to play Spooky Yard during the 2015 Christmas Update. Any Pumpkin lanterns in a players inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Wonder Shop (Christmas Ball)

Wonder Shop: For the duration of the Christmas 2015 update Christmas Balls were required to play Wonder Shop. Christmas Balls were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Christmas timed Challenges. Once a player completed all challenges in the Christmas Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Christmas balls were restricted to only being won in Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Christmas balls for the duration of the Christmas Update. Christmas balls were removed as a requirement to play Wonder Shop during the Mountain Vacation Update. Any Christmas balls in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Mountain Resort (Snowdrop)

Mountain Resort: For the duration of the Mountain Vacation Update, Snowdrop special items were required to play Mountain Resort. Snowdrops were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Mountain Vacation timed Challenges. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Mountain Vacation Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Snowdrops were restricted to only being won in in Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Snowdrops for the duration of the Mountain Vacation Update. Snowdrops were removed as a requirement to play Mountain Resort during the Spring 2016 Update. Any Snowdrops in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Spring Festival (Origami)

For the duration of the Spring Festival Update, Origami special items were required to play Spring Festival. Origami were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Spring Festival timed Challenges. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Spring Festival Event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happened first), Origami were awarded by only Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Origami for the duration of the Spring Festival Update. Origami were removed as a requirement to play Spring Festival during the Celebration by the Bonfire Update. Any Origami in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Camping Site (Dandelion)

Camping Site was the Celebration by the Bonfire Event Special Item Picture, the first of two challenges introduced by the Celebration by the Bonfire Update.   For the duration of the Celebration by the Bonfire Update (spanning the Celebration by the Bonfire and the Vacation by the Sea events), and continuing until the Harvest and Halloween Update, Dandelion special items were required to play Camping Site. Dandelions were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Celebration by the Bonfire Timed Challenges. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Celebration by the Bonfire Timed Challenges, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Dandelions were awarded by only Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Dandelions until the second set of Timed Challenges in the Update were triggered (the Vacation by the Sea Event) at which point the Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Dandelions for the remaining time until the Harvest and Halloween Update was released. Dandelions were removed as a requirement to play Camping Site by the Harvest and Halloween Update. Any Dandelions in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Tropical Evening (Sunglasses)

Tropical Evening was the Vacation by the Sea Event Special Item Picture, the second of two challenges introduced by the Celebration by the Bonfire Update.  For the duration of the Vacation by the Sea Event, and continuing until the Harvest and Halloween Update, Sunglasses special items were required to play Tropical Evening. Sunglasses were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Vacation by the Sea Timed Challenges . Once a player completed all the challenges in the Vacation by the Sea TImed Challenges or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Sunglasses were awarded by only Japanese House and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Sunglasses during the Vacation by the Sea Event and continuing until the next update was released. Sunglasses were removed as a requirement to play Tropical Evening by the Harvest and Halloween Update. Any Sunglasses in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Farm (Harvest Basket)

Farm was the Harvest Festival Event Special Item Picture, the first of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Harvest and Halloween Update. For the duration of the Harvest and Halloween Update (spanning the Harvest Festival and Celebration of the Spirits events), and continuing until the Magic Tour Update, Harvest Basket special items were required to play Farm. Harvest Baskets were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Harvest Festival Timed Challenges. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Harvest Festival Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Harvest Baskets were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 6 chance of awarding Harvest Baskets until the second set of Timed Challenges in the Update was triggered (the Halloween 2016 Timed Challenges) at which point the Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Harvest Baskets. Harvest Baskets were removed as a requirement to play the Farm by the Magic Tour Update. Any Harvest Baskets in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Haunted Attraction (Pumpkin Lantern)

Haunted Attraction was the Celebration of the Spirits (Halloween 2016) Event Special Item Picture, the second of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Harvest and Halloween Update. For the duration of the Celebration of the Spirits (Halloween 2016) Event, and continuing until the Magic Tour Update, Pumpkin Lantern special items were required to play Haunted Attraction. Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Celebration of the Spirits Timed Challenges. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Celebration of the Spirits Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Pumpkin Lanterns for the duration of the Celebration of the Spirits Event and continuing until the Magic Tour Update. Pumpkin Lanterns were removed as a requirement to play Haunted Attraction by the Magic Tour Update. Any Pumpkin Lanterns in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Luxury Express (Train Ticket)

Luxury Express was the Magic Tour Event Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Magic Tour and Christmas (2016) Update. For the duration of the Magic Tour Event, Luxury Express could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.   

For the duration of Magic Tour and Christmas (2016) Update (spanning both Magic Tour and Christmas Time events), and continuing until the Winter's Tale Update, Train Ticket special items were required to play Luxury Express. Train Tickets were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Magic Tour timed challenge event. Once a player completed all the challenges in the Magic Tour Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Train Tickets were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Train Tickets for the duration of the Magic Tour and Christmas Update and continuing until the Winter's Tale Update. Train Tickets were removed as a requirement to play Luxury Express by the Winter's Tale Update. Any Train Tickets in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Festive Dinner (Christmas Ball)

Festive Dinner was the Christmas Time Event (Christmas 2016) Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Magic Tour and Christmas (2016) Update . For the duration of the Christmas Time Event, Festive Dinner could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of Christmas (2016) Update, and continuing until the Winter's Tale Update, Christmas Ball special items were required to play Festive Dinner. Christmas Balls were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Christmas Time timed challenge event.  Once a player completed all the challenges in the Christmas Time Event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Christmas Balls were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards had a 1 in 7 chance of awarding Christmas Balls for the duration of the Christmas (2016) Update and continuing until the Winter's Tale Update. Christmas Balls were removed as a requirement to play Festive Dinner by the Winter's Tale Update. Any Christmas Balls in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Orangery (Rare Flower)

Orangery was the Winter's Tale Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Winter's Tale/The Legend Returns Update (January 2017).  For the duration of the Winter's Tale Event, Orangery could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of Winter's Tale/The Legend Returns update (spanning both events), and continuing until the Forgotten Story Update, Rare Flower special items were required to play Orangery.  Rare Flowers were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Winter's Tale timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 challenges of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Rare Flowers were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Rare Flowers for the duration of the Winter's Tale and The Legend Returns Updates and continuing until the Forgotten Story Update. Rare Flowers were removed as a requirement to play Orangery by the Forgotten Story Update. Any Rare Flowers in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Tea Corner (Jade Crystal)

Tea Corner was The Legend Returns Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Winter's Tale/The Legend Returns Update (February 2017).  For the duration of The Legend Returns Event, Tea Corner could be opened form level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges. 

For the duration of The Legend Returns Update, and continuing until The Forgotten Story update, Jade Crystal special items were required to play Tea Corner.  Jade Crystals were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of The Legend Returns timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 challenges of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Jade Crystals were awarded by only Mayan Temple and Amusement Park.  The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Jade Crystals for the duration of the The Legend Returns Update and continuing until the Forgotten Story Update. Jade Crystals were removed as a requirement to play Tea Corner by the Forgotten Story Update. Any Jade Crystals in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Aviation Museum (Compass)

Aviation Museum was the Forgotten Story Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Forgotten Story/Wildlife Photography Season Update (March 2017). For the duration of the Forgotten Story Event, Aviation Museum could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Forgotten Story/Wildlife Photography Season Update (spanning both events), and continuing until the Call from the Depths Update, Compass special items were required to play Aviation Museum. Compasses were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Forgotten Story timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Compasses were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow.  The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Compasses for the duration of the Forgotten Story and Wildlife Photography Season Updates and continuing until the Call from the Depths Update. Compasses were removed as a requirement to play Aviation Museum by the Call from the Depths Update. Any Compasses in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Forester's Base (Candlestick)

Forester's Base was the Wildlife Photography Season Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Forgotten Story and Wildlife Photography Season update (April 2017). For the duration of the Wildlife Photography Season Event, Forester's Base could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Wildlife Photography Season Update, and continuing until the Call from the Depths Update, Candlestick special items were required to play Forester's Base. Candlesticks were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Wildlife Photography Season timed challenge event.  Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Candlesticks were awarded by only Mayan Temple and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Candlesticks for the duration of Wildlife Photography Season Update and continuing until the Call from the Depths Update. Candlesticks were removed as a requirement to play Tea Corner by the Call from the Depths Update. Any Candlesticks in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Captain's Cabin (Seahorse)

Captain's Cabin was the Call from the Depths Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced by the Call from the Depths/Time Trap Update (May 2017). For the duration of the Call from the Depths Event, Captain's Cabin could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Call from the Depths/Time Trap Update (spanning both events), and continuing until the Guardian of the Desert/Raven's Test Update, Seahorse special items were required to play Captain's Cabin. Seahorses were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Call from the Depths timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Seahorses were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Seahorses for the duration of the Call from the Depths and Time Trap Updates and continuing until the Guardian of the Desert Update. Seahorses were removed as a requirement to play Captain's Cabin by the Guardian of the Desert Update. Any Seahorses in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Ship's Deck (Perpetual Calendar)

Ship's Deck was the Time Trap Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Time Challenges introduced by the Call from the Depths/Time Trap Update (June/July 2017). For the duration of the Time Trap Event, Ship's Deck could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Time Trap Update, and continuing until the Guardian of the Desert Update, Perpetual Calendar special items were required to play Ship's Deck. Perpetual Calendars were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Time Trap timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Perpetual Calendars were awarded by only Mayan Temple and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Perpetual Calendars for the duration of the Time Trap Update and continuing until the Guardian of the Desert Update. Perpetual Calendars were removed as a requirement to play Captains Cabin by the Guardian of the Desert Update. Any Perpetual Calendars in a player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows and Tokens.

Heart of the Dunes (Desert Rose)

Heart of the Dunes was the Guardian of the Desert Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced during the Guardian of the Desert/Raven's Test Update (July/Aug 2017). For the duration of the Guardian of the Desert Event, Heart of the Dunes could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Guardian of the Desert/Raven's Test Update (spanning both events), and continuing until the Halloween's Horror Update, Desert Rose special items were required to play Heart of the Dunes. Desert Roses were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Guardian of the Desert timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Desert Roses were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. Vikings Village (Wooden Shield)

Vikings Village was the Raven's Test Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Challenges introduced during the Guardian of the Desert/Raven's Test Update (August/September 2017). For the duration of the Raven's Test Event, Vikings Village could be opened from level 7 onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Raven's Test Update, and continuing until the Halloween's Horror Update, Wooden Shield special items were required to play Vikings Village. Film Studio was the Halloween's Horror Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the first of two Timed Challenges introduced during the Halloween's Horror/Sweet Venture Update (October 2017).  For the duration of the Halloween's Horror Event, Film Studio could be opened at level 7 and onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Halloween's Horror/Sweet Venture Update (spanning both events), and continuing until the Christmas Miracle Update, Pumpkin Lantern special items were required to play Film Studio. Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Halloween's Horror timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Pumpkin Lanterns were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Pumpkin Lanterns for the duration of the Halloween's Horror and Sweet Venture Updates and continuing until the Christmas Miracle Update. Pumpkin Lanterns will not be required to play Film Studio after the player installs the Christmas Miracle Update. Any Pumpkin Lanterns in a player's inventory will be converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Bakery (Vanilla Pod)

Bakery was theSweet Venture Update Special Item Picture, which was used for the second of two Timed Challenges introduced during the Halloween's Horror/Sweet Venture Update (November 2017). For the duration of the Sweet Venture Event, Bakery could be opened at level 7 and onward to allow all players to take part in the event's timed challenges.

For the duration of the Sweet Venture update, and continuing until the Christmas Miracle Update, Vanilla Pod special items were required to play Bakery. Vanilla Pods were awarded for every picture successfully played at any level for the duration of the Sweet Venture timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Vanilla Pods were awarded by only Mayan Temple and Amusement Park. The Sphere of Miracles and Pyramid of Wonder desktop awards also sometimes awarded Vanilla Pods for the duration of the Sweet Venture Update, and continuing until the Christmas Miracle Update. Vanilla Pods will not be required to play Bakery after the player installs the Christmas Miracle Update. Any Vanilla Pods in a player's inventory will be converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Secret Mailroom (Christmas Ball)

Secret Mailroom was the Christmas Miracle Update Special Item Picture (December 2017).  

For the duration of Christmas Miracle Update and Theater of Feelings Update, and continuing until the Chinese New Year Update, Christmas Ball special items were required to play Secret Mailroom. Christmas Balls were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Christmas Miracle timed challenge event.  Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Christmas Balls were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow.  Christmas Balls will not be required to play Secret Mailroom after the player installs the Chinese New Year Update.  Any Christmas Balls in a player's inventory will be converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Actress's Room (Vintage Barrette)

Actress's Room was the Theater of Feelings Update Special Item Picture (January 2018). 

For the duration of Theater of Feelings Update, and continuing until the Chinese New Year Update, Vintage Barrette special items were required to play Actress's Room. Vintage Barrettes were awarded for every picture played at any level for the duration of the Theater of Feelings timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Vintage Barrettes were awarded by only Mayan Temple and Amusement Park. Vintage Barrettes will not be required to play Actress's Room after the player installs the Chinese New Year Update.  Any Vintage Barrettes in a player's inventory are then converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Chinese Teahouse (Coin of Happiness)

Chinese Teahouse was the Chinese New Year Update Special Item Picture (February 2018).

For the duration of Chinese New Year Update, and continuing until the Hanami Festival Update, Coin of Happiness special items were required to play Chinese Teahouse. Coins of Happiness were awarded for the duration of the Chinese New Year timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Coins of Happiness were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. Coins of Happiness will not be required to play Chinese Teahouse after the player installs the Hanami Festival Update.  Any Coins of Happiness in a player's inventory are then converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Japanese Shrine (Fan)

Japanese Shrine was the Hanami Festival Update Special Item Picture (April 2018).

For the duration of Hanami Festival Update and continuing to the Family Mystery Update, Fan special items were required to play Japanese Shrine. Fans were awarded for every picture played at any level during the Hanami Festival timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Fans were awarded by only Japanese House and Bungalow. Fans will not be required to play Japanese Shrine after the player installs the Family Mystery Update. Any Fans in a player's inventory are then converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Garden Tea Party (Fruit scone)

Garden Tea Party was the Family Mystery Update Special Item Picture (May-June 2018). 

For the duration of Family Mystery Update and continuing until the Stars of the Summer Nights Update, Fruit scone special items were required to play Garden Tea Party. Fruit scones were awarded for every picture played at any level during the Family Mystery timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Fruit scones were awarded by only two pictures.  Fruit scones will not be required to play Garden Tea Party after the player installs a later update.  Any Fruit scones in the player's inventory are then converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Embankment (Lion Figurine)

Embankment was the Stars of the Summer Nights Update Special Item Picture (July-August 2018).

For the duration of Stars of the Summer Nights Update and continuing until the Dangerous Journey Update, Lion Figurine special items were required to play Embankment. Lion Figurines were awarded for every picture played at any level during the Stars of the Summer Nights timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Lion Figurines were awarded by only two pictures (Japanese House and Bungalow). For the duration of the Halloween Masquerade Ball Update and continuing until the Thanksgiving Day Update, Jack-O'-Lantern special items were required to play Mysterious Attic. For the duration of the It's raining sakura petals Update and continuing until the Easter Mystery Update, Kokeshi Doll special items were required to play Inspiration Place. Kokeshi Dolls were awarded for every picture played at any level during the It's raining sakura petals timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Kokeshi Dolls were awarded by only two pictures (Bungalow and Japanese House).  After a player installs a later update, Kokeshi Dolls are not required to play Inspiration Place, and any Kokeshi Dolls in the player's inventory are then converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Veranda (Chocolate Bunny)

Veranda is the Easter Mystery Update Special Item Picture (April/May 2019). For the duration of the Easter Mystery Update and the Fulfilling Dreams Update, and continuing until the Festival of Balloons Update removed the requirement, Chocolate Bunny special items were required to play Veranda. Chocolate Bunnies were awarded for every picture played at any level during the Easter Mystery timed challenge event. Once a player completed all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expired (whichever happened first), Chocolate Bunnies were awarded by only two pictures (Japanese House and Bungalow).  With the installation of the Festival of Balloons (or later) Update, any Chocolate Bunnies in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Sewing Shop (Button)

Sewing Shop is the Fulfilling Dreams Update Special Item Picture (May/June 2019). For the duration of the Fulfilling Dreams Update and until the Festival of Balloons Update, Button special items were required to play Sewing Shop. Buttons were awarded for every picture played at any level during the Fulfilling Dreams timed challenge event. Usually, once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), the Special Items are awarded by only two pictures. This event did not allow for additional Buttons to be obtained after you completed the Fulfilling Dreams timed challenge event. Any Buttons in the player's inventory were converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens with installation of the Festival of Balloons Update. The Festival of Balloons Update removed the requirement for Buttons to play Sewing Shop, but added Carrots as a requirement to play Sewing Shop. Sewing Shop is the second picture that requires Carrots.

Fabulous Scenery (Sun)

Fabulous Scenery is the Festival of Balloons Update Special Item Picture (June 2019). For the duration of the Festival of Balloons Update and until the Magical Summer Update, Sun special items were required to play Fabulous Scenery. Suns are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Festival of Balloons timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Suns are awarded by only two pictures (Japanese House and Bungalow). With the installation of the Magical Summer (or later) Update, any Suns in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens.

Paradise Beach (Spiral Shell)

Paradise Beach is the Magical Summer Update Special Item Picture (July 2019). For the duration of the Magical Summer Update and until the Secret Ceremony Update, Spiral Shell special items were required to play Paradise Beach. Spiral Shells are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Magical Summer Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Spiral Shells are awarded by only two pictures (Japanese House and Bungalow). With the installation of the Secret Ceremony (or later) Update, any Spiral Shells in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Secret Ceremony Update removed the requirement for Spiral Shells to play Paradise Beach.

Wedding Boutique (Buttonhole Bouquet)

Wedding Boutique is the Secret Ceremony Update Special Item Picture (August 2019). For the duration of the Secret Ceremony Update and until the Autumn Festival Update, Buttonhole Bouquet special items were required to play Wedding Boutique. Buttonhole Bouquets are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Secret Ceremony Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Buttonhole Bouquets are awarded by only two pictures: Japanese House and Bungalow. With the installation of the Autumn Festival (or later) Update, any Buttonhole Bouquets in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Autumn Festival Update removed the requirement for Buttonhole Bouquets to play Wedding Boutique, but added Cupid's arrows as a requirement to play Wedding Boutique. Wedding Boutique is the second picture that requires Cupid's arrows.

Harvest Fair (Invitation Card)

Harvest Fair is the Autumn Festival Update Special Item Picture (September 2019). For the duration of the Autumn Festival Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Invitation Card special items are required to play Harvest Fair. Invitation Cards are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Autumn Festival Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Invitation Cards are awarded by only two pictures. With the installation of the All Hallows' Eve Update (or later) Update, any Invitation Cards in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The All Hallows' Eve Update removed the requirement for Invitation Cards to play Harvest Fair.

Abandoned Manor (Black Cat)

Abandoned Manor is the All Hallows' Eve Update Special Item Picture (October 2019). For the duration of the All Hallows' Eve Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Black Cat special items are required to play Harvest Fair. Invitation Cards are awarded for every picture played at any level during the All Hallows' Eve Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Black Cats are awarded by only two pictures. With the installation of the Elegant Party Update (or later) Update, any Black Cats in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Elegant Party Update removed the requirement for Black Cats to play All Hallows' Eve.

Celebration Hall (Bottle of Perfume)

Celebration Hall is the Elegant Party Update Special Item Picture (November 2019). For the duration of the Elegant Party Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Bottle of Perfume special items are required to play Celebration Hall. Bottles of Perfume are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Elegant Party Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Bottles of Perfume are awarded by only two pictures. With the installation of the Christmas Mystery (or later) Update, any Bottles of Perfume in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Christmas Mystery Update removed the requirement for Bottles of Perfume to play Celebration Hall.

Snowy Village (Gingerbread Cookie)

Snowy Village is the Christmas Mystery Update Special Item Picture (December 2019). For the duration of the Christmas Mystery Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Gingerbread Cookie special items are required to play Snowy Village. Gingerbread Cookies are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Christmas Mystery Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Gingerbread Cookies are awarded by only two pictures. With the installation of the Reawakened Legend (or later) Update, any Gingerbread Cookies in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Reawakened Update removed the requirement for Gingerbread Cookies to play Snowy Village.

Mountain Abode (Wise Man Figurine)

Mountain Abode is the Reawakened Legend Update Special Item Picture (January 2020). For the duration of the Reawakened Legend Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Wise Man Figurine special items are required to play Mountain Abode. Wise Man Figurines are awarded for every picture played at any level during the Reawakened Legend Update timed challenge event. Once a player completes all 3 segments of the event, or the challenge timer expires (whichever happens first), Wise Man Figurines are awarded by only two pictures. With the installation of the Magic of the Moon (or later) Update, any Wise Man Figurines in the player's inventory are converted into Fireflies, Ladybugs, Carrots, Cupid's arrows, and Tokens. The Magic of the Moon Update removed the requirement for Wise Man Figurines to play Mountain Abode.

Moon Lake (Hand Mirror)

Moon Lake is the Magic of the Moon Update Special Item Picture (February 2020). For the duration of the Magic of the Moon Update and continuing until a future update removes the requirement, Hand Mirror special items are required to play Moon Lake.
