Friends 2019 Home Desktop

Note: The Facebook version of The Secret Society: Hidden Mystery does not use the same Friend system as the stand-alone applications. It uses the list of your Facebook friends instead, but only the ones who play the game on Facebook.

Friends Section and Adding Friends[]

Main page: Friends Section

Adding Friends g5 4solace(1)

To access the Friends section of the game press the ‘Friends' icon on the bottom right hand side of your home desktop. This will open up your Friends List.

All of your current friends will be shown with their chosen avatar, name, a gift box (used to send that friend a gift - See Gifting for how to send gifts), a picture of a person (used to visit that friend's desktop - See Visiting for information on visiting), and a speech bubble (used to access the in game chatting option to sent a message directly to that friend - See the "Chat tab" on Friends )

There are four ways of adding friends in the game - using Player Login codes to add particular players, using the  random invite system, sending invites using your device's contacts, or connecting to your Facebook friends. Each method has advantages and disadvantages, but for the most part exchanging Player Login codes with other players in places such as the Friend Code Exchange board on the Forum here or on other websites/communities for the game seems to be the most effective way for adding friends. The biggest advantage of using Player Login codes is that this method give you the opportunity to talk to the players you make friends with, which helps in finding people with similar game playing habits. The advantages of using your personal contacts and Facebook friends is that you already have a relationship with these people and have a sense of what type of player they may be.

Getting Started: Opening the Friends Section:[]

Adding Friends g5 4solace(2)

Open the Friends section by tapping on the Friends Icon on bottom right hand side of your Home Desktop when you are playing the game.

Go to the 'Invite friends' button on the bottom.

Clicking this button will take you to a screen with four tabs on the top.  Each of these tabs offers a different method to add or invite friends.  From left to right the tabs are "Other Players", "G5 Friends", "Address Book", and "Facebook".

Invite friends four tabs

How Each Invitation Method Works[]

Other Players[]

The first tab on the Friends invite screen is "Other Players". This is a random listing of players generated by G5.  Every 24 hours, the game generates a list of people who could be potential friends. The number of potential friends in any set may vary depending upon a player's particular level.

You can press the visit icon to view the player's board, their progress in the game, and other statistics (Occupation, Level, Experience, Reputation, Energy, Strength, the number of Friends they have, and how many Collections they have gathered), but you cannot charge their Home Desktop until you become friends. You may invite one, or multiple players to be friends by clicking on the player(s), or using the 'Select all' option.  This will send a friend request to each person you selected. Once you invite someone, you will appear in that player's Waiting area. You must wait for the player to accept you. In the meantime, the player will also appear in your own Waiting area, along with other players who may have invited you and and are waiting for you to accept them. Please refer to the "Accepting Invitations" section below.

If you wish, you can get another listing of potential friends without waiting if you press 'Update list now for 7 crystals.' The crystals will come out of your inventory.

G5 Friends[]

Adding Friends g5 4solace(3)

The second tab on the Invite friends screen is "G5 Friends". Using this option requires that you have a Player Login from a potential friend. Current players of Secret Society Hidden Mystery have a Player Login.

Please note that a person's Player Login and game name (Nickname) are not necessarily the same. The Player Login is what you will need to enter into the white invite box. Player Logins must be entered carefully with regard to capital letters, characters, and spaces in order for the invite to be successfully sent. After entering a Player Login, the G5 system will show you a message confirming that your invitation has been successfully sent or if you have entered it incorrectly and need to try again.

Address Book[]

The third tab on the Invite friends screen is "Address Book". This option requires that G5 Friends has access to your personal contacts list in order to send friends invitations.  The window states that "G5 Friends will not send any invites unless you specifically choose to send invites."

Facebook[]

The fourth and final tab on the Invite friends screen is "Facebook". This option helps you to "find out which of your current Facebook friends are also playing Secret Society Hidden Mystery and invites them to play along with you."

Player Logins[]

Sharing Your Login and Game Security[]

As noted in the "G5 Friends" section above, each current player has a personal Player Login code.  The Player Login serves as an address with which to send an invitation to a player to become game friends. However, the Player Login is also part of your game identity and security.

When you download the game onto your device, G5 will ask for you to register and create your Player Login, Nickname (which is your game name), and Password.  It is important that you not share your password as that may open access to your game to others.

This wiki has numerous places where you can safely share your Player Login to search for and extend invitations to friends. See the section below entitled "Where to Find New Friends Online Using Player Logins".

Helpful hint:  Some players have multiple names as part of their player identities.  That is, their SSHM Wiki name, Game Nickname, and Player Login.  Remember, it is the Player Login that is used to send friend invites.  If you have different names, it would be to your advantage to let your potential friends know this.  That way, your invitation is less likely to be mistaken for someone else and deleted. As with entering a Player Login to send an invitation, please be certain that you have typed your information correctly especially with regard to capitalization, spaces, or punctuation.

Where and How to Find Your Player Login[]

Should you forget your Player Login, finding it is simple.

Friends Player Login and Nickname

Go to the "Friends" tab from your main game screen.  Once there you will see a row of buttons on the bottom.  Press the first one on the left - "My Profile".  This will take you to a screen that has your registration information which includes your Player Login.

You can also see your own Player Login on the Invite friends screen, just below the four buttons at the top.

It is possible to change your Player Login. You do this on the My Profile screen. It is advised to not change your password or email at the same time. They can be changed; but you should only change one thing at a time.

Accepting Invitations[]

Once you have invited someone, or they have invited you, there is still another step that must be completed before they appear on your friends list. The invitee must accept the invitation (or they can also reject it).

Open the Friends section of the game again.

Go to the 'Waiting' tab. Here you will see all the people you have invited to be friends, along with all the people who have sent you invitations.  Please note that there may also be another type of invitation here.  Part of the G5 Friends system, introduced to SSHM with the Chinese Festivities Update in late January 2019, is the ability for players to have the same friends in each G5 Game that they both play.  You may see invitations from your friends to play other G5 Games.  These are not friend invitations for Secret Society Hidden Mystery.  Accepting these invitations will direct you to download a new game to your device.

a) If you invited someone to be friends, they will appear in your Waiting Room until either they accept or reject your invitation. There is nothing you can do here. Once they accept your invitation, they will automatically be added to your Friends list. If they reject the invitation, they will automatically disappear from the Waiting Room. You may cancel your own friend request by pressing the 'x' in the corner of the invitation.

b) If someone else invited you to be friends, they will also appear in your Waiting Room.  There will be a red circle notification.  The number in the circle indicates the number of invitations waiting.  There will be two buttons under their name/info. There is a green 'Accept' button and a blue button with the visitng icon (picture of a person with an arrow). If you press Accept, then they will be automatically added to your friends list (and will disappear from the Waiting Room). If you do not wish to accept the friend invitation, press the 'x' in the upper right hand corner next to their name. They will not be added to your friends list (and will disappear from the Waiting Room). They will not be notified that you rejected their request, but you will also disappear from their Waiting Room.
